Metropolitan Horsemen’s Association

Oakland, California - Established 1938

MHA’s Mission

MHA members work to promote equestrian sports, uniting horse people across all disciplines to develop good horsemanship. We work to maintain Sequoia Arena and to preserve equestrian facilities and trail access in the East Bay Area.

The Metropolitan Horsemen's Association speaks for the equestrian community in public meetings. We interact with other groups and agencies to promote the equestrian presence in the East Bay.

Become an MHA Member!

This is your chance to make a difference! Your membership entitles you to a members-only discount on your entry fees at MHA shows, as well as year-round access to the arena, weather permitting. Most importantly, it allows us to continue maintaining our arena and putting on impactful events for the community.

Please join us—help maintain Sequoia Arena and campaign for equestrians in our community.

Our Horse Shows & Events

MHA offers competitors a friendly and encouraging environment with horse shows that are structured to help green to advanced horses and riders have a successful show experience.

MHA also offers a series of educational clinics, ranging from topics like Working Equitation to Horsemanship Basics to Basic Equine Medical Care.

Set in Joaquin Miller Park in the beautiful Oakland Hills, Sequoia Arena has great footing, friendly and helpful MHA volunteers, and plentiful shade during the summer heat.

Volunteer!

Our volunteers are the life blood of MHA - we would not be able to do anything we do without them! We welcome volunteers of all ages & skillsets. You can help us with anything from handing out ribbons at a show, social media marketing, to helping plan our events and drive membership engagement.
